Our Mining Practice is looking for an experienced professional to serve as "Electrical Designer" to help the Electrical Engineering group in our growing practice in Phoenix, Arizona.

Responsibilities:

The position is generally responsible for the quality of electrical design drawings performed by the electrical engineering design discipline located in Stantec’s Mining practice.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Works with the electrical engineers to produce electrical designs meeting requirements and codes.
  • Quality Assurance of Electrical and Control Detail Engineering and Design project deliverables generated.
  • Follows project budgets and schedules in coordination with the multidiscipline groups.
  • Ensures technical discipline and AutoCAD standards are followed as established and maintained.
  • Day-to-day coordination with other project disciplines, engineers and designers.
  • Reports to the Chief Electrical Designer.
Qualifications:
  • Education:  Associates’ degree in Engineering; Electrical / Control Engineering.
  • Experience:   At least five years of heavy industrial engineering design experience preferably related to surface and underground mine infrastructure and associated systems. 
  • Specialized knowledge, licenses, skills, etc.:   Must have good knowledge of NFPA codes, NEC and MSHA Standards and Regulations.  Should possess above average written and oral communication skills.
  • Programs – Strong computer skills and proficiency including the use of AutoCAD 2011 and Microsoft Office are required.  Use of specialized electrical design software would be an advantage.
