Responsibilities:

Our Lethbridge office is seeking an Intermediate Landscape Architect to join our Planning and Landscape Architecture team. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in unique design projects while working interactively with our design team, clients, municipalities and the public in a creative design environment on a broad range of projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Involvement in projects in areas including, but not limited to, urban design, downtown redevelopment, new town planning, recreation and sport facilities, resorts and tourism, town center/commercial development and master planned communities.
  • Planning and Design of various project elements – visioning, branding, recreating, planting and structural.
  • Design assistance with civil, structural, environmental and electrical engineering departments.
  • Production of written documents such as cost estimates, project scopes, proposals, tender packages, design reports, and specifications.
  • Production of various design related deliverables with a variety of digital and hand media.
  • Design drafting and detailing in an AutoCAD, Land F/X and SketchUp environment.
  • Field work including construction supervision and inspections.
  • Public participation and workshop sessions as required by project.
  • Participating as an integral part of a dynamic team environment.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university or a combination of related education and experience.
  • 5 – 10 years’ work experience (though all levels of experience are still encouraged to apply).
  • Experience in project management and budget control.
  • Experience in business expansion and client development.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive and eager outlook on the diverse field of landscape architecture in Southern Alberta.

Technical skills required:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A high degree of skills in the Adobe suite of graphic software (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
  • Knowledge of ecology, plant and soil science.
  • Solid graphic and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with construction supervision and field approvals.
  • Working knowledge of Land F/X, SketchUp, AutoCAD 3D Studio, and other 3D software is not required, but considered preferential.
  • Knowledge of irrigation design is not required, but considered preferential.

A portfolio of project work will need to be provided for review. This can either be in pdf format or links to an online portfolio site.
