Job Description: 

The Appalachian Mountain Club seeks a Senior Online Marketing Associate to support AMC’s ongoing online marketing efforts, including email campaign management, organic search engine optimization, landing page testing & optimization, pay-per-click advertising campaign management, and campaign performance tracking. Reporting directly to the AMC E-Communications Director, the Senior Online Marketing Associate will be instrumental in managing AMC’s electronic communications efforts. This is a full time, exempt position located in AMC’s headquarters in Boston, MA with a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Produce, optimize, send, and track performance of AMC email campaigns, including A/B and split list testing.
  • Manage outbound e-messaging scheduling, list management and list growth efforts; includes providing strategic thought and tactical support on contact acquisition initiatives.
  • Manage AMC’s ongoing organic search engine optimization (SEO) efforts through analysis and implementation of research-based recommendations/solutions on website. Train and advise content contributors on SEO best practices.
  • Manage AMC’s pay-per-click/AdWords campaigns: includes keyword research, ad copywriting, performance testing, strategic revisions to campaign as needed, regular performance reporting, and other related tasks.
  • Optimize, test and track performance and conversion rates of key landing pages on website.
  • Utilize Google Analytics to analyze web site traffic and related activities to support web site and e-communications improvements; present findings regularly to Communications colleagues and AMC leadership team.
  • Produce and distribute monthly web traffic and electronic communications report and lead regular traffic review meetings.
  • Support AMC’s social media efforts as needed, including measurement and paid efforts and video SEO.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or engineering with 2-3 years successful online marketing experience (copywriting, PPC, SEO) in a deadline driven, production environment.
  • Direct hands-on experience and proficiency with MS Office, email marketing/eCRM platforms (Convio, Blackbaud Sphere, Constant Contact), Google Analytics and/or WebTrends, Google AdWords, WYSIWYG editors (FrontPage, Dreamweaver), content management systems, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML; hand-coding experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of online marketing trends and current web standards and technologies, and desire to stay current in rapidly evolving field.
  • Strong analytical, communication and project management skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented with strong commitment to quality and consistency.
  • Ability to work both independently and in coordination with a team.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects at once, often under deadline pressure.
  • Passion for the recreation, conservation, education mission of the AMC.
  • Physical requirements: Work is performed primarily in a general office setting, with minor physical effort or strain required. Work is normally performed while seated, requires freedom of movement. May spend extended periods of time at a computer terminal, on a telephone, or operating other office machines. This position requires an ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment and manage deadlines. Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
