The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is seeking an Information Technology Support Specialist. NCAT is a private non-profit organization that works to foster and promote sustainable technologies and systems, especially for the benefit of economically disadvantaged individuals and communities. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled IT professional to work in a fast paced technological environment. The successful candidate will have good computer hardware, software and troubleshooting skills and work as a member of NCAT's outstanding information technology team. This specialist will perform both computer hardware and software related tasks. The IT specialist loads and upgrades new software; troubleshoots and maintains hardware; provides computer support and related training to staff; maintains web sites and intranet pages; ensures timely workstation backups; and configures and troubleshoots organizational email. The specialist is responsible for updating virus and malware protection on all systems, and for maintaining a software and hardware inventory. The position is based in NCAT's Headquarters located in Butte, Montana
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum requirements are an equivalency of a BA or BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and minimum of five years experience. Must have experience in hardware and software installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Windows and Linux server administration knowledge is desired, as well as a working knowledge of database applications. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly via phone or email with NCAT staff spread across the United States. Excellent computer skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment is a must. Must have the ability to prioritize work assignments, to complete tasks in a timely manner, maintain information of a confidential nature, to train and mentor staff, as well as working well in a stressful environment.
Salary and Benefits:
