The six current development professionals have extensive experience in the development field. The initial focus will be on listening, mentoring, and understanding the complexities of the Mass Audubon sanctuary system and how it relates to the development process. Building a similar relationship with the three Regional Directors (each oversees 8 sanctuaries) will be essential as well. While respecting the uniqueness of each sanctuary and their fundraising challenges, the Director of Philanthropy will have a successful first year if he or she brings the team together and is able to create an atmosphere where best practices are accepted and all of the Development Directors feel well supported.
