Our Calgary Oil & Gas group is currently looking for a CP Tech/Engineer to join our Pipeline Integrity division in Quarry Park.

The primary role for the CP Tech/Engineer is to assist in organizing and executing projects for cathodic protection design and maintenance projects, as well as provide engineering support for coating selection, materials selection, and corrosion control and inspection programs.

The CP Tech/Engineer shall ensure adherence to corporate and client technical standards, and provide analysis under the supervison of senior engineers and specialists. It is expected that this role will include acting as a technical lead or advisor on multiple concurrent projects, so strong organizational and time management skills are requried. There is an expectation of some field work, but a majority of the work will be office based.

  • Gather, organize and review CP and corrosion control records and data (strong emphasis on using spreadsheets and databases)
  • Analyze data and prepare technical reports
  • Assist in preparing corporate standards and procedures
  • Provide technical support to engineering project teams
  • Assist with Internal and external budgeting and cost control
  • Technical training and mentoring for junior integrity personnel
  • Ensure appropriate standards and codes are Applied
  • Liaise with other corporate divisions
  • Compliance with Stantec’s EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field
  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships
  • Monitor client satisfaction
  • Develop growth opportunities in other corrosion related areas
  • Professional Engineer status recognized by APEGGA or CET by ASET
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of CP assessment experience as well as 1-2 years of project coordination experience, preferably related to CP & corrosion control within the Canadian oil & gas industry
  • Minimum NACE CP Level II technician
  • Experienced with Canadian standards, practices and applicable legislation
  • Demonstrated team proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills are essential
  • Demonstrated oil & gas consulting experience
