Responsibilities:

Our Dartmouth, Halifax office has opportunity for an Intermediate Electrical Designer in our E & IC Group. This position is of interest to self-directed individuals with experience in electrical design with focus on power and controls. The individual will be expected to work independently on electrical design as an integrated member of a multidisciplinary design team on medium to large projects, providing technical expertise to the design team and PM. Responsibilities to include design of electrical systems including power distribution, generators, fire alarm, communications, security, energy management and mechanical equipment control design for municipal, industrial, institutional, public and private facilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaison and coordinating with external and internal clients to obtain and develop engineering projects.
  • Collecting field information, equipment specification, drawing development, cost estimate, schedule input, code review, technical studies, technical report preparation, field review and commissioning.
  • Assist the design team in developing control strategies, P&IDs, instrument specifications, PLC specifications and termination diagrams, loop diagrams and material lists.
  • Prepare project documents (drawings and specifications) and cost estimates.
  • Required to undertake some project management responsibilities.
  • Resolve technical issues with Discipline Lead and Project Manager.
  • Coordinate activities with Project Managers and Engineers of all disciplines/teams.
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate should possess a certificate in electrical technology from a technical college or an Engineering Degree from a University, and be eligible for registration with the TechNova APEGNS.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in Electrical and/or Controls Design.
  • Fluency in one or more control system languages (ie: RSLogix, Controllogix, DeltaV, SIEMENS 4-mation) and SCADA industry software (ie: Intools, RSView, Wonderware) will be considered an asset.
  • Previous work experience in the municipal or light industrial sectors and/or water/wastewater treatment considered an asset.
  • AutoCad and or Revit experience will be considered an asset.
  • Good interpersonal skills required for internal team interfaces and client liaison.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
