Overview: Our Environmental Services group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. Stantec is seeking an experienced Principal- Level Scientist to lead sediment cleanup investigations in marine, riverine, and estuarine environments in the Pacific Northwest. You will help create a center of excellence for remediation of contaminated sediments in various aquatic settings including lakes, rivers, and impoundments. You will provide technical support for restoration and recovery efforts for wetland and aquatic habitat; development of ports, harbors, and waterfronts; and navigational dredging in rivers and estuaries. Your expertise includes human and ecological risk assessment, physical and chemical sciences, and natural resource evaluation. As a senior leader, you will be fully accountable for successfully selling and consulting on a range of sediment clean-up opportunities to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with Stantec's North American-wide practice team to share best practices across the industry. This is a Principal-level opportunity for a motivated professional looking to advance their career with an environmental leader Responsibilities:Assist with development and implementation of strategic business/action plan, provide leadership, and deliver results to expand Stantec’s environmental practice specifically related to sediment assessment and clean-up opportunities in the Northwest. Serve as a key member of the practice team to drive profitable growth across service lines (storm water management, site assessment/remediation, environmental impact assessment, land planning, risk assessment and water resources management) in the Western US.
