We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Designer/Checker to join our drafting team in Quarry Park.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of a Senior Designer/Checker is to ensure that all information and details on the Electrical and Controls drawings are checked and cross referenced through the entire drawing package. It is crucial that the Checker's work be complete and accurate, as mistakes seriously delay the completion of the job and substantially increase the cost of field labor.

The Key Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Check discipline-related drawings and documents
  • Ensure drawings are in accordance with project scope, client specifications, standards and all applicable codes and regulations
  • Ensure wire, cable, instrument and equipment tags are complete and consistent thru the entire drawing package
  • Prepare and check bills of material
  • Ensure cable and cable tray sizing are consistent with engineering calculations
  • Assist with engineering calculations for voltage drop, lighting, cable tray loading and heat tracing when required
  • Ensure drawings are in agreement with the latest vendor print available and the latest information from the other departments
  • Review vendor and in-house coordination drawings to ensure their compliance with related project requirements
  • Guide other levels of drafting personnel assigned to their area on a project
  • Assume all or part of Squad Leader's responsibilities and duties when assigned
  • Visit construction sites and fabrication shops as required
  • Ensure design is practical and constructable
Qualifications:
  • 10 or more years of experience in oil and gas facility design, preferably in the Western Canadian sedimentary basin.
  • Member of ASET or APEGA
  • A broad range of experience is required and should include some or all of the following: Medium/Low Voltage design, control system design and Instrumentation design
