Responsibilities:

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Transmission Line Designer to become part of a dynamic group providing professional services to our clients in the power sector. As the successful candidate you will assume the position to provide technical support to the Project Leads/Senior Engineers, in developing working drawings and detailed technical specifications for projects.

Under the supervision of a Project Lead or Senior Engineer:


• Assist the Project Lead/Senior Engineer in preparing schematics, wiring and cabling
• Determine viable solutions for design issues
• Prepare power transmission calculations and circuiting
• Assist the Project Lead/Senior Engineer in preparing technical specifications
• Keeping up-to-date on new products, technologies, design processes

• Prepare project documents and equipment specifications
• Assist in reviewing shop drawings
• Communicate with other engineering disciplines as required for design coordination

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

A minimum of 2+ years of general design experience in the following areas including: power transmission and high voltage systems.

• Working knowledge of PLSCADD, PLSPOLE and/or PLSTower
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with ASET or another provincial engineering association
• Graduate of a technical college program preferred
• Sound working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office products
• Basic understanding of Canadian Electrical Code
• Basic understanding of standard design methods and practices
• Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and wiring drawings
• Ability to work within a team, sharing workloads to meet deadlines
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
