Job Description:  Overview:

Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in hydrogeology, hydrology, soil science, wetland science, wildlife biology, marine biology, fisheries biology, botany, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include water resources management, endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, and wetland characterizations. Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be a responsible, analytical and detail-oriented individual with excellent written and oral communication skills. Great time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously are required. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects including work in the oil and gas, mining, and power sectors. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex mapping and data analysis tasks, including spatial analysis, geo-processing, developing scripts and models
  • Working with terrestrial ecosystem mapping (TEM) and creating habitat suitability models
  • Design, develop, and maintain geo-databases
  • Provide technical support to junior staff on GIS data, methods and applications
  • Actively participate in requests for proposals related to GIS projects and assist in proposal development
  • Conduct research and analyze/rationalize data from multiple sources
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of acquired and produced spatial data and database records through QA/QC
  • Provide support to various project teams to manage and process data for use in analysis and reporting
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or related discipline
  • 5-10 years of working experience in GIS with ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS, Spatial Analyst and 3d Analyst.
  • Experience working in environmental management and/or consulting environment as asset
  • Working knowledge of scripting and programming in Python
  • Working knowledge in writing and executing database queries using SQL
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must show initiative and exhibit time management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and be adaptable to changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a team environment and use available resources in meeting team deadlines
