Description The Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) is looking for Communications Specialist candidates to join the Institutional Advancement team as writer, editor and content creator for the organization. The Specialist will be responsible for working with ISC staff to write and edit the materials we use to connect with donors, funders, and partners. This person will develop stories of our work, and support program staff in finding and telling these stories in a variety of ways. We are especially interested in candidates who are comfortable switching between writing styles and environments, and have experience with social media. Ideal candidates will have several years of professional experience writing and creating materials for print and web, a solid understanding of effective writing and editing principles and an eye for detail. Experience with international work is a definite plus, as is experience with interviewing and storytelling styles. The right candidate will be comfortable in our fast-paced environment and able to juggle multiple projects and priorities easily (and with a sense of humor). Organization Description ISC is an innovative, international development organization that has successfully worked for over 21 years to give citizens and the organizations that support them the tools, skills, and resources they need to improve lives and build a more peaceful, stable world. Our current areas of programmatic growth include strengthening democratic institutions and citizenship in transition countries; helping communities in the U.S. and Asia become more resource efficient and transition to low-carbon economy; and supporting sustainable community development – particularly in areas recovering from natural disasters or that are vulnerable to climate disruption. Founded by Madeleine M. Kunin in 1991, ISC is based in beautiful, picturesque Vermont, a state that values grassroots democracy and environmental stewardship. ISC has an office in Washington, DC, and international offices in China and Serbia. Qualifications
Compensation and Benefits Position is available pending funding. To Apply Please submit your cover letter and resume with last name, first initial and job title in the subject line to jobs@iscvt.org.
