ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that advances energy efficiency as a primary driver of an economically vibrant, energy secure and environmentally sustainable Southeastern United States. SEEA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Alliance to Save Energy, is based in Atlanta, GA, and works in the 11-state region of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia plus the U.S. Virgin Islands. We partner with policymakers, utilities, governments, industry and non-governmental organizations to create more energy efficient futures for the communities we serve. SEEA is the independent champion driving market transformation in the Southeast’s energy efficiency sector through collaborative public policy, thought leadership, and programs, services and technical advisory activities. In April of 2010, SEEA was awarded $20M by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Better Buildings Neighborhood Program (BBNP) to develop local energy efficiency programs to provide comprehensive services in community neighborhoods to promote and administer energy efficiency and renewable technologies. Through an RFP process, SEEA awarded DOE funds to 12 sub-recipients to participate in the program: Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA , Jacksonville, FL, Charlottesville, VA, Huntsville, AL, U.S. Virgin Islands, Chapel Hill/Carrboro, NC, Charleston, SC, Decatur, GA, Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, Hampton Roads Metro Planning District, VA. These cities have committed to collectively retrofit thousands of residential and commercial facilities over 36 months. Each city is independently designing and implementing their programs. However SEEA is committed to providing tools and services on a regional basis to facilitate their efforts, including:
SEEA contracts with vendors and partners to assist the cities in the design, delivery and evaluation of the program. The DOE has also established a Technical Assistance Provider network which provides support to grantees in the areas of finance; program design and implementation; technical issues; and performance contracting. Additionally, SEEA is contracted to manage six similar programs in the States of Alabama and Virginia under the DOE’s State Energy Program (SEP). POSITION DESCRIPTION
