Job Description: 

Founded in 1992, Urban Solutions is a dynamic and productive economic development non-profit organization based in San Francisco. Our mission is to strengthen underserved neighborhoods by supporting small businesses, job creation, diversity and sustainability. Two neighborhoods where we concentrate most of our services are the Fillmore Street/Western Addition and Sixth Street/South of Market.

Position

Urban Solutions seeks a Program and Data Assistant to provide technical and administrative support services. Primary responsibilities include: gathering data from clients, providing data entry support for staff, producing reports on program activities with graphs and statistics, and providing administrative support to several staff members. The job requires an aptitude for and an interest in data collection, data management and analysis coupled with strong customer service skills.

This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in the South of Market, Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 5:30pm with some work from our satellite office in the Fillmore and occasional evening hours. Benefits include: Medical, Dental and Vision, 401(k) retirement plan, and Commuter Checks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client registration interviews with new clients, input client data into our contact database and maintain client files
  • Generate monthly reports and review them for accuracy and completeness
  • Analyze client data and prepare graphs, charts, and statistics for reports, marketing materials, and grant proposals
  • Manage the organization’s SalesForce database and customize it to the organization’s needs
  • Staff the reception desk, including greeting visitors, answering the general phone-line, and receiving mail
  • Assist with workshops and special events
  • Handle office technology needs and serve as the liaison to the technology consultant
  • Assist with maintaining office tidiness, mailings, filing, and photocopying
  • Oversee data collection and follow-up surveys of clients for the annual outcomes evaluation study

Required Skills & Experience

  • Comfortable working with and presenting numbers and basic statistical data
  • High-level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and with Internet research
  • Warm, congenial personality combined with sensitivity to diverse populations, a sense of discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information
  • Previous experience with a relational database, such as SalesForce, including familiarity with database reporting
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Flexibility and eagerness to learn and work on different tasks as needed
  • An interest in economic development work and supporting small business
  • B.S in business, economics or a related field
  • 2 years of work experience
