Stantec in Toronto - Wellington office has an immediate opening for an Associate, Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to our Mechanical Engineering practice within our Buildings Engineering group. Projects will vary in size ranging from small commercial developments to major research laboratories and healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the mechanical design process on projects of various size and complexity
  • Prepare and review specifications and reports
  • Maintain and grow current business and client relationships
  • Deliver solutions and troubleshooting to support the mechanical team on client and technical issues
  • Mentor and train junior staff members
  • Provide input to the Discipline lead and management team on formal and informal training, recruiting and retention of staff.
  • Represent Stantec at Client meetings, conferences and formal presentations as may be required from time to time
  • Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited university. A senior C.E.T. with equivalent experience and abilities may also be considered for this role.
  • Professional Engineering designation with PEO or another province in Canada preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years Mechanical design experience in complex commercial and institutional projects such as Health Care, Post-Secondary research and teaching facilities and High Rise complexes.
  • Experience with medical gas systems design will be a definite asset.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of project construction and delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with BMS controls design and specification required.
  • Experience managing projects with minimal supervision
  • Experience implementing sustainable design/LEED®projects is an asset.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
  • LEED®accreditation will be considered an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards.
