Stantec's Geomatics team consists of a large and diverse group with capabilities across North America. Responsibilities:

Stantec's Geomatics group is currently seeking a Project Manager in our Calgary Office to help grow our developing Oil & Gas project team.

The Project Manager is required to oversee and be accountable for all project duties (outlined below) on assigned project work. The Project Manager will focus on scope, deliverable execution, client expectations, project expectations, schedule, and cost control.

This is a new position in a growing group and requires someone with strong leadership skills capable of providing direction and mentoring to different parts of the team. This position will play a key role in the development of our project team, and assisting in company development/initiatives, with opportunity for future promotion.

Our Project Team offers services for all phases of the Project Life Cycle, from pre-project planning through detailed design, construction and commissioning, operations, to decommissioning.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Client key interface and communication
  • Approval and development of DBM, Scope documents, and Framing documents
  • Approval and development of man-hours and cost estimates
  • Approval and development of schedule and milestones
  • Preparation of project documentation that promotes efficient execution
  • Direction to project surveyor and other disciplines to meet project needs
  • Coordination of key meetings or review points: scope review, , field instructions, plan preparation and delivery
  • Procurement direction and planning: vendor selection, prepare and issue request for quotations, vendor bid evaluations and selection
  • Management of Project Cost Control, budget vs. actual
  • Client status reporting
  • Ensure codes and standards (both legislated and customer-specific) are being met
  • Set, approve and define full scope/equipment requirements
  • Work with other managers to supervise, co-ordinate, schedule and review the activities of field staff and CAD technicians
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and service
  • Other general project support tasks to complete work, including customer specific requirements
Qualifications:

As the successful candidate you:

  • Should have a minimum of 5 years experience in the disciplines of Geomatics and/or Project Management with experience in upstream and midstream Oil Sand and conventional oil and/or natural gas production and distribution
  • Strong ability to organize and plan: computer literacy, time management, project planning and project deliverables
  • Strong Skills in Project Management fundamentals and application: Scope, Cost Control, Delivery, Schedule, Execution Planning
  • Sound understanding of survey related acts, regulations and industry standards
  • Ability to multitask:handling multiple jobs/projects, able to carry out multiple tasks within each project
  • Must be able to lead a team
  • Must be self-sufficient with client and team at all phases of project execution
  • Must be a self-starter and motivated
  • Must be growth orientated (both personal, and company growth focused)
  • Should be willing to provide direction
  • Should approach things in a positive manner and be a team player
  • Should be willing to travel from time to time (1 to 2 day trips/month)
  • Should be available for full time (40 hrs/wk)
  • Should have developed skills that are ready for use at some level immediately
  • Would prefer an understanding of survey business drivers and business model
