The Oregon League of Conservation Voters Education Fund has an immediate opening for a Canvass Director in the Bend area to implement OLCV-EF’s Voter Outreach program to help pass a local Bond measure in November. The position runs through the November election.
OLCV Education Fund educates the public about environmental issues and gives citizens the knowledge and skills they need to be effective advocates for the environment. The duty of the Canvass Director will be to implement the door-to-door portion of this project.
Overall, the door-to-door project has three goals:
Educate and persuade targeted voters for Measure 9-86, Bend Connecting People, Parks and Nature
Identify supportive voters
Get these voters out to vote (GOTV)
The Canvass Director will report directly to OLCV’s Program Staff.
Primary responsibilities will include: Recruit, hire, train and manage the required team of door-to-door canvassers with the support of OLCV’s program and administrative staff; Manage all aspects of the canvass campaign, including working with OLCV’s program staff to write scripts, pulling data from the VoterFile, cutting turf, getting canvassers on turf, monitoring performance of canvassers and making adjustments, and entering results in VAN; Holding canvassers accountable to specified goals and objectives; Reporting regularly to OLCV’s program staff about progress.
Qualifications required: Canvassing experience or its equivalent. Previous use of the VoterFile preferred. Canvass leadership/management experience is preferred. Applicants need the ability to recruit and motivate diverse groups of people; a dedication to OLCV’s organizational goals; willingness to learn new skills and ideas; willingness to be self-motivated and self-critical; willingness to work irregular hours.
Location: Canvassing will be in Bend, OR.
Travel: Access to a vehicle is required.
Salary: Pay range is $2,250 - $2,500 per month depending on experience. Because the focus is on direct voter contact, this job will require working weekends and evenings.
