Job Description: 

Green Mountain Farm-to-School seeks a dynamic, independent, mission-driven educator with strong communication and strategic organizing skills to join our effort to promote the health of Vermont’s children, farms, and communities.
Position Description
The primary responsibilities of the Educator will be to launch, grow, and evaluate GMFTS’ school garden program at schools in Franklin County, VT. The Educator reports to the Program Director.
The Educator will:
• Lead weekly 1-2-hour after-school program at 1-4 school sites in Franklin County, VT
• Plant, maintain, and harvest school gardens
• Coordinate with teachers to utilize the school garden as an educational tool
• Support with food service staff use of school garden food in the cafeteria
• Facilitate School Garden Committees
• Develop and maintain partnerships with school administration and staff
• Lead summer program activities for students and community members
• Plan, develop, and maintain educational materials including lesson plans and
 curriculum
• Purchase and maintain program supplies and equipment
• Distribute outreach and publicity materials
• Collect, analyze, and report data for program evaluation
• Work as a remote, independent member of a team of educators
• Provide general support to organization, as necessary
Qualifications
• A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
• Strong interest in working with children, teaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of gardening and vegetable production preferred
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with partner organization
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
Hours/School:
This position will serve the Highgate, St. Albans City School, Sheldon, and Swanton Schools. Typical schedule is 2:00 – 6:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Hours and days per week depends on the number of schools the Educator wants to serve.
Compensation:
This is a part-time, year-round, contracted position for 4 – 24 hours per week (depending on the number of schools served) at $12/hour.
