Job Description: 

Clean Water Action/Clean Water Fund seeks an organizer for environmental protection and community organizing activities in the Baltimore, Maryland area.  Clean Water Action is a national citizens’ organization working for clean, safe and affordable water, prevention of health-threatening pollution, creation of environmentally-safe jobs and businesses, and empowerment of people to make democracy work. Clean Water Fund organizes strong grassroots groups, coalitions and campaigns to protect our environment, health, economic well-being and community quality of life.

Primary duties include:

  • Provide organizing support to communities in Baltimore, helping them develop and implement plans to address environmental problems;
  • Recruit and train volunteers to assist with Baltimore area environmental campaigns;
  • Participate in other issue campaigns in Maryland and the Chesapeake region as assigned by supervisor;
  • Represent the organization in meetings and other events with allies and others;
  • Research, write, design, produce and distribute flyers, fact sheets, reports and other written products;
  • Assist with fundraising, administration, financial management;
  • Manage lists, files and databases needed for work assignments;
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisors
Qualifications: 
  • Paid or volunteer experience in issue or campaign organizing;
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills;
  • Good judgment; well organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities;
  • Able to work effectively with computer/information-technology systems;
  • Able to travel on occasion for meetings, projects, and other assignments;
  • Highly productive, hardworking, and reliable work style, able to meet deadlines and complete assignments in timely fashion;
  • Good at working with people, motivating and managing volunteers;
  • Experience with canvass programs and/or environmental issues desirable.
