Stantec’s bridge group is currently seeking a Senior Bridge Technologist with experience in the layout and drafting of major highway bridges, standard bridges and culvert, and pedestrian bridges, preferably with experience on Alberta Transportation (AT) projects. It is expected the candidate is able to work independently within the project team as a job captain on major bridge projects.

Stantec has recently completed several exciting bridge projects, including 14 bridges on the SE Stoney Trail P3 project, several conventional AT interchanges and river crossings including several on NW Stoney Trail, the Crowfoot Connector in NW Calgary, as well as several pedestrian crossings including the Fish Creek stress ribbon bridges, Schooner Drive Arch Bridge, and the Peace Bridge, and we have continuing opportunities on a variety of bridge projects. Stantec has recently been successful in securing a significant amount of bridge design work and is seeking someone to become a part of the bridge team.

Responsibilities:

Stantec's Buildings Engineering group, out of our Calgary office, has an opportunity for a qualified Structural Engineering Technologist - Intermediate/Senior , specializing in Bridges.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Prepare contract drawings, schedules, details, quantity estimates and sketches from conceptual design, through tender to construction
• Ensure CAD standards and Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production.
• Work to and meet project time lines.
• Influence, assist in developing and meet project budgets
• Co-ordinate project requirements with the design team
• Mentor and support Junior members of the production team

Qualifications:


• Diploma from a recognized technical program, Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or a related structural engineering focused technology or equivalent
• Minimum of five to ten years of experience in the preparation, drafting and design of engineering drawings using appropriate standards for a variety of new bridge structures and rehabilitation of existing structures
• You possess a solid understanding of construction protocols and processes and have a proven ability to interpret the contract documents(drawings and specifications)
• Well experienced and knowledgeable with recent and current versions of AutoCad, Microsoft Excel
• Microstation software experience, minimum entry level experience an asset
• Revit software experience would be considered an asset
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of Alberta Transportation Standards a great asset
• Highly organized and are able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
• Highly motivated individual who works independently

• Willingness to continue education in industry related programs
• Work amicably with the project team
• Attention to detail and accuracy are required assets
• Able to meet challenges and expectations in an amicable manner
