Our Environmental Services group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources management, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, information management, environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services . We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.

Responsibilities:

Stantec’s Environmental group in Red Deer has an opportunity for a Senior Design Technologist Team Lead - Water to become part of our dynamic team.

As the successful candidate your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs
  • Take a high degree of project ownership, interfacing as is necessary with the project manager, client, consulting engineers, specialist consultants and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Provide direction to job captain and production team.
  • Review /coordinate drawings and specifications of all disciplines.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring qualities.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma from a technical college with a focus on Engineering Technology.
  • Current CET, or P.Tech. designation, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • 5 years of leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental science and water systems, materials and methods, and construction practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of and be proficient in AUTOCAD (proficiency in other drafting/ graphic applications such as Revit, Sketch-up, Photoshop is an asset).
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency in project management applications such as Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Experience in specification writing or contract administration preferred.
