Stantec's Geomatics Practice is a large and diverse group with surveying and mapping resources across North America. Our Geomatics group is at the forefront of surveying technology and performs its work utilizing robotic total stations, GPS, and 3D laser scanning technologies. Stantec utilizes all types of project delivery methods, including Design/Bid/Build, Construction Management at Risk, Design/Build and Public-Private Partnerships.

Stantec offers both public and private sector clients a full range of services including boundary surveying, topographic mapping, construction layout, geodetic and control surveys, aerial photogrammetry, GIS services, route surveys, as-builts, and more. Our professional and technical staff provide services for transportation, land development, buildings and architectural, environmental, energy, mining and industrial projects throughout the US and Canada.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will lead and manage the Geomatics team throughout Southern California. The position is home based in Irvine, CA, and spans from Los Angeles County to the US/Mexico border and from the Pacific Ocean to the Colorado River.

Duties will include:

  • Business development and client maintenance.
  • Collaboration with key leaders in many other business units.
  • Project management and financial oversight of the operation.
  • Supervision of office and field staff.
  • Recruitment and hiring of key staff.
  • Assisting in the development of the group’s strategic business plan.
  • Taking professional responsibility for survey work.

The position will work closely with leaders in other Southern California practices and offices to perform local projects, win new work, and strengthen the relationship of existing clients. The position will also engage with key Geomatics leaders in other US West Region locations to coordinate large-scale project work and facilitate resource sharing.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:

  • Must be entrepreneurial with a minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in the Land Surveying profession.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, including directing workloads, developing staff and completing performance assessments.
  • Professional Land Survey license in State of California.
  • Strong business development and client maintenance skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Good familiarity with GPS and laser scanning technologies is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Prior to employment, this position will require the successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
