Job Description: 

Earthjustice is the legal backbone for the environment. Founded in 1971, we annually represent nearly 400 non-profit organizations for free in over 250 cases that promote a clean energy future, preserve our natural heritage, and safeguard our health.   

Working under the direction of the Senior Manager, Direct Response, this position is primarily responsible for generating direct marketing lists based on segmentation developed by the direct response team. The Direct Response Data Associate will also assist in the production of related reports and ad hoc queries that will inform our donor cultivation and solicitation strategies.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Generate and export information for a complex program of direct mail, telefundraising, online solicitations, and planned giving marketing efforts.
  • Serve as the primary contact for data needs and inquiries to/from various fundraising agencies and firms as well as internal stakeholders. 
  • Oversee the processes of generating and assigning tracking codes to fundraising solicitations (online & offline).
  • Serve as the point person for questions about coding and tracking donor response.
  • Upload new prospect and donor records into our database and append new and updated data to existing records from a variety of sources.
  • Manage data hygiene practices, including regular national change of address (NCOA) processing and file de-duping.
  • Generate regular reports and ad hoc queries that convert our donor and response data into business insights.
  • Provide required data for our data analytics and benchmarking research activities. 
  • Review diagnostic reports to ensure accurate interpretation of our donor response data.
  • Prepare and send weekly response files to our direct response agency.
  • Reconcile our agency’s reporting with our own internal systems.
  • Serve as part of a multi-disciplinary team tasked with synchronizing data between our primary donor database and our online eCRM.
  • Manage our direct response testing efforts, including scheduling, tracking, results reporting, and knowledge capture and application.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in direct marketing, preferably with a fundraising background.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Experience in Microsoft Access preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to query data, identify critical information, and analyze and make recommendations.
  • Experience in analysis and data interpretation in support of direct marketing strategy.
  • Prior experience in data management and familiarity with fundraising practices and principles.
  • Experience supporting a direct marketing program is a distinct plus.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to set and manage priorities.
  • A proven self-starter.
