Job Description:  
The Met Tower Technician is part of a three-to-five person team that installs and
maintains wind monitoring towers throughout the United States and beyond. The
technician is responsible for working together on a crew to help ensure projects are
completed in a safe, timely, efficient, successful and professional manner.
This position requires frequent travel in a wide variety of weather conditions with trips occasionally
lasting for two or three weeks. The technician must be prepared to work on projects whose plans may
be adjusted on short-notice based on changing schedules, environmental conditions and unforeseen
issues in remote locations. . Maintaining a positive attitude and good rapport with fellow crew
members is an essential trait of all SGSI crew members.
On-the-job training for this position is provided.
Required Qualifications
Strong work ethic
Comfort with technical manuals and troubleshooting in the field
Experience with common construction equipment
Comfortable with common computer programs
Attention to detail and habit for keeping thorough documentation
Clean driving record
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to take direction and work cooperatively on a small construction team
Enjoy frequent travel in the United States
Desired Qualifications
Tower construction or related construction experience
Familiar with electronics
Passion for growing the wind energy industry
Basic computer skills
Experience or interest in working at heights (the basic position does not require any tower climbing)
Primary Responsibilities
Field Work (~90% of time), Project Management and Reporting (~10% of time)
Installing, servicing, and decommissioning met towers
Installing and servicing communication and electronic devices
Construction safety knowledge or direct experience
Starting salary is $13 to $15 per hour with an increase at the 3 month review. This position includes flexible work
schedule and health insurance according to SGSI policy. We are located in Madison, WI and the position is based
from this location.
Reporting Relationship:
The position will be under the direction of the Met Tower Crew Lead and Field Operations Manager.
