Responsibilities:

An opportunity exists in Ottawa for a Junior/Intermediate Water Resources Engineer. This role is for a highly motivated engineer with stormwater and/or water resources experience. As the successful candidate, you will use your technical abilities to plan, analyze and design water, stormwater and wastewater management systems and facilities primarily in the municipal market sector with a dynamic design team. Depending on the assignment, you will report directly to the PC Leader or Senior Project Manager and will have primarily modeling analysis and design responsibilities. Other responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking the detailed studies, modeling and design tasks associated with the management of water, wastewater and stormwater conveyance systems and related facilities;
  • Coordinating with engineers and technical staff to ensure that the projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner;
  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals for new projects;
  • Meeting with municipal officials to review project needs;
  • Following the process for obtaining approvals from various agencies;
  • Researching issues related to wastewater, stormwater and water resources that impact individual projects;
  • Writing reports and design briefs to document analyses; and,
  • Taking responsibility for the quality of your written, technical and graphic work.
Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you are registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario or will be eligible for registration. You have 1 to 5 years of experience in hydrology and hydraulics related to water, wastewater and stormwater management issues. A strong knowledge of municipal design requirements will be an asset. The ability to work in a team environment, with minimal supervision, is essential. Ideally, you are a self-motivated individual possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. In addition, you possess a strong working knowledge hydraulics, hydrology & hydrodynamic modeling tools used for analysis and design of related facilities.
