Our Buildings Engineering group specializes in the design and development processes unique to buildings. Working closely with our clients, our dedicated professionals help to establish and understand the specific needs of a range of building projects. For both public and private sector clients, we provide structural, mechanical, & electrical engineering services, as well as many unique and specialty services such as lighting and daylighting, security & life safety systems designs, commissioning & retro-commissioning, plan checking, and energy engineering services. Focused on providing the most cost-effective solutions to engineering challenges, we are involved in a diverse range of projects from the initial planning stages to design, construction, and commissioning. Responsibilities:

Our Ottawa Buildings group has an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer. Responsibilities will include design of electrical systems and controls of various building types and systems, preparing proposals, providing mentorship to an existing group of technologists and engineers and working closely with clients, contractors and suppliers. Leadership opportunities exist for the right candidate.

Specific duties include:

• Liaison and coordinating with external and internal clients to obtain and develop engineering projects
• Preparing proposals and engineering estimates
• Developing schedules, work breakdown, project tasks and project execution
• Prepare project documents, equipment specifications and capital cost estimates
• Supervise project team of designers and junior engineers
• Project Management to control design budgets and cost control monitoring
• Prepare engineering reports, tender and construction drawings and documents
• Design reviews of the team that all of their work is properly checked in accordance with Stantec Consulting Ltd. and client standards

Qualifications:

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering;
• Professional Engineer Registration;
• LEED certification is considered a definite asset;
• A minimum of 10 years of related electrical engineering experience;
• Electrical design experience in low and medium voltage, systems lighting, power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, communications and security systems, control/signal systems for commercial, transportation, industrial and government facilities;

• Familiarity with security and auxiliary systems associated with the healthcare environment essential:
• Previous experience with engineering software applications such as ETAP, AGI 32 and other design tools will be a definite asset;
• Thorough knowledge and familiarity with electrical standards and codes;
• Good interpersonal skills required for internal team interfaces;
• Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills required.
