Stantec’s Industrial Buildings and Facilities group offers services for all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-project planning through detailed design, construction and operations to decommissioning. Our Dartmouth Business Unit consists of a multidisciplinary team of over 60 professional and technical staff who deliver creative, innovative and integrated solutions to meet our clients’ needs.

Our diverse group of Project Managers, Engineers, and Technologist team members specialize in the functional programming, planning and design of buildings and infrastructure needs for clients within the Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Maintenance & Repair and National Defense sectors. Some of our projects include: aircraft hangars, food warehousing and distribution centres, heavy vehicle and transit maintenance facilities, office buildings and other light industrial projects.

Responsibilities:

Stantec's Dartmouth, NS office is currently looking for Intermediate /Senior Mechanical Designers. These individuals will be skilled problem-solvers with a strong attention to detail. This is a dynamic work environment where you will play a pivotal role in a diverse range of projects, from initial planning to design and construction.

These positions are of interest to self-directed individuals with at least 5 years experience. The individuals will be expected to work independently on mechanical design as an integrated member of an interdisciplinary design team. Responsibilities for mechanical applicants include design of mechanical HVAC systems, fire protection and plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, public and private facilities.

Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate should possess a certificate /diploma in mechanical engineering technology.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing mechanical HVAC systems, fire protection and plumbing systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a strong attention to detail are essential.
  • Experience with the application of relevant building design codes is essential.
  • Green Technology knowledge or LEED certified professional is an asset.
  • Experience creating tender document packages including drawings and specifications an asset.
  • Experience with engineering software applications such as AutoCAD, load analysis, energy modeling and other design tools will be a definite asset.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office will be beneficial in this role.
  • Field experience with building system assessment and inspections an important asset.
