Our Environmental Services group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources management, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, information management, environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services . We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.

Our Thousand Oaks, CA office is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill their Staff Biologist position.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a full time staff biologist to conduct a variety of wildlife or botanical surveys, data entry and analysis, preparation of supporting report documentation, preparation of regulatory permit applications, preparation of biological resource sections of California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act documents, and perform mitigation monitoring services. The position requires conducting field work primarily in Southern California as well as office based professional work. Keen observational skills and bird, bat, or plant identification may be required. This position works as part of a larger natural resources team and will likely require support to multiple Stantec offices. A willingness to travel is preferred. Candidates will also likely be requested to support other service areas related to environmental assessment and remediation projects.

Qualifications:
  • 1 to 2 years experience in environmental consulting or similar.
  • Bachelor in Science degree in Biology, ecology, botany or related field.
  • Superb observation skills are highly valued as are a keen interest in ecosystems.
  • Individual must have computer and technology skills.
  • Must have the willingness to learn new skills while conducting field work in rural wilderness settings and flexibility in undertaking work assignments and work independently for long hours in the field as necessary.
  • Must have experience/knowledge of hazardous materials as well as a 40 - hour hazardous waste operations and emergency response certificate are desirable.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and exhibit that they possess the tools to promote safe behavior.
  • Good driving record and valid drivers license required.

Prior to employment with Stantec, this position will require the successful completion of a physical and drug screen .
