Our Environmental Services group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources management, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, information management, environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services . We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.

Responsibilities:

Stantec is seeking a Staff Geologist to conduct multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, indoor air, etc.); oversee advancement of soil and rock borings, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, and minor soil excavation projects. Perform ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and assist with development of technical reports while working with senior professional staff on multiple projects in the field and office.

This position requires completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Environmental Science
  • Registration as Professional Geologist preferred
  • 3-6 years consulting industry and/or environmental regulatory experience
  • Familiarity with CERCLA and RCRA preferred
  • 40-hour OSHA training
  • Strong technical writing, organizational and communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Ability to travel for meetings with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/project management
  • Job Knowledge
    • Performs and documents field activities (including direction of subcontractors) with oversight
    • Participates in brown bag seminars/presentations and seeks out internal and external training to improve technical and administrative skills
    • Demonstrated technical knowledge in application for the discipline
    • Initiative to develop and learn new skills, technology, processes as appropriate
  • Communication Skills
    • Effectively and immediately communicate project status (schedule, field activities and statement of work change) to project manager and staff, especially new project developments, problems or changes in conditions upon which project scope was based.
    • Provide constructive feedback to supervisor during and after assignments
    • Ask questions if assignments are not clear
    • Accept responsibility and be a team player
