Job Description:  Overview:

Our Environmental Services group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources management, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, information management, environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services . We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.

Responsibilities:

Stantec is seeking entry level staff to conduct multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, indoor air, etc); oversee advancement of soil and rock borings, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, management of subcontractors, minor soil excavation projects, data reduction/analysis and report preparation.

This position requires completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Environmental Science
  • 1-3 years consulting industry and/or environmental regulatory experience
  • Familiarity with CERCLA and RCRA preferred
  • 40-hour OSHA training
  • Excellent technical writing, organizational and communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Must be able to travel for extended field project work

Job Knowledge:

  • Has appropriate computer skills for discipline and develops specialty skills as appropriate.
  • Performs and documents field activities (including direction of subcontractors) with oversight.
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge in application of their discipline.
  • Participates in brown bag seminars/presentations and seeks internal and external training to improve technical and administrative skills.

Communications Skills:

  • Asks questions if assignments are not understood
  • Effectively and immediately communicates project status (e.g., schedule, field activities, and scope of work changes) to project manager and appropriate staff, especially if there are new project developments, project problems, or changes in conditions upon which the project scope was based.
  • Ability to communicate solutions in writing, verbally and graphically.
  • Provides constructive feedback to supervisor during and after assignments.
  • Accepts responsibility and acts as a team player.
