Responsibilities:

We have an opportunity in our Calgary Office for an Alberta Land Surveyor – Oil and Gas Geomatics Leader. The successful candidate will join a diverse organization with tremendous opportunities. In this position, you will assist in the expansion of the Geomatics group's growth and contribute to the group's collective professional experience. The goal is to grow the surveying group in the Oil and Gas sector.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead business development efforts.
  • Build and foster client relationships.
  • Generate leads and new business with current and future clients.
  • Responsible for implementing effective business development strategies and motivate others to deliver on targeted objectives.
  • Participate in short and long range planning, establishing organizational priorities, implementing the division strategic plan and vision, and the overall management and performance of the division.
  • Participate in sales and marketing activities across a diverse group of practice areas and regions.
  • Represent the Company with clients and regulators.
  • Develop, review, and sign proposals in accordance with Company Policy.
  • Develop, review and sign reports and contract documents in accordance with company policy.
  • Collaborate with the other groups who focus on the Oil and Gas market.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of experience specifically in the Oil and Gas area, as well as experience in Project Management, Client Management and Team Leadership. Expertise in building client relationships is an essential requirement for the role. Working as a strong member of a multi-disciplinary team, candidates must be familiar with all levels of surveying and Geomatics applications. Candidates require a high level of motivation ready to commit to Stantec's strategic initiative: to be among the top 10 global design firms.

  • Minimum 10 years progressive experience in surveying and mapping in the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Strong familiarity with Industry, and Industry Leaders in Alberta.
  • Strong business development and client maintenance skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strategic thinker who demonstrates in depth expertise and solves problems of significant complexity providing original, innovative, practical and economical solutions.
  • Possess market-assessment techniques, insights and contacts.
  • Proven success in developing new clients and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • A thorough understanding of proposal pricing, contract terminology and negotiations with potential clients.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, coordination, managerial and “people” skills.
  • Strong technical background in Oil and Gas.
