In the Environmental Management Group of Stantec, team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, or hydrologic assessments. Responsibilities: Description: CAD Operator/Drafter will perform relatively complex computerized drafting and design, mapping, on a variety of engineering and mapping projects. Familiarity with, and understanding of survey/engineering concepts and terminology is critical. Working knowledge of CAD standards, PC application software, and survey/drafting/engineering practices and methods is a must.
Examples of Duties: • Prepare drawings and sheet sets by utilizing AutoCAD software • Coordinate the use of GIS mapping and information systems • Coordinate the use of GPS field data and mapping systems • Assist in the collection of field survey data to facilitate “field to finish” projects • Proficient in and able to create documents utilizing word processing software and spreadsheets • Perform other duties, as needed, to assist the Mapping Division
Must also be proficient in land based CAD drafting and the latest AutoDesk AutoCAD software, including Civil 3D, Map, and Raster Design is essential for this position. Must also have a working knowledge of ESRI software, including ArcGIS 9.x. Ability to understand oral and written directions; good technical writing skills; and must be committed to ongoing learning. Qualifications:Knowledge of drafting; civil engineering practices; geography; GPS technology; mathematics, including the principles of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics as applied to CAD drafting related work; automated drafting techniques; map and plan design; and survey principles and methods.
Experience/Education
A Bachelor's Degree preferably in civil engineering technology or a closely related field OR an Associates Degree from an accredited college and 3-5 years of sub professional or professional CAD Drafting experience. Preference will be given to candidates with upstream and mid-stream oil and gas experience.
REQUIRED: Valid Class C Driver's License & the ability to perform field work |
