Job Description:  Overview:

Stantec’s Environmental Management group is dedicated to help our clients manage environmental issues professionally and pro-actively. Our staff includes specialists in fisheries biology, marine biology, wildlife biology, botany, forestry, wetland science, soil science, hydrogeology, hydrology, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We currently are working on some of the highest profile projects across North America that include that involve a wide range of assignments such as endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.

Stantec is Burnaby is seeking Intermediate and Senior Fisheries Biologists to join our growing Environmental Management group. The successful candidate will work on projects in the mining, power, oil and gas, and urban development industries.

Responsibilities:
  • Developing technical work programs
  • Conducting and managing field programs
  • Preparing technical reports
  • Supervising and directing junior staff
  • Developing and maintaining client contacts
  • Preparing proposal and marketing materials
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Biology although a Masters degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience for the intermediate position and 10 years experience for the senior position. Consulting experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Experience conducting fisheries and fish habitat assessments, developing habitat compensation plans, and preparing technical reports.
  • Knowledge of current provincial and federal government regulatory requirements is essential.
  • Strong technical, communication, and organization skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
