The professionals in our Fredericton Industrial Engineering group are a key part of our New Brunswick team. We work closely across disciplines including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Process, Environmental, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls. Our EI&C department is a close-knit team of dedicated people working on a wide range of challenging projects across many industries.

Responsibilities:

Stantec’s Fredericton office is currently looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer. The individual must be an excellent communicator and skilled problem-solver with a strong attention to detail. This is a dynamic work environment where you will play a pivotal role in a diverse range of projects, from initial planning to design, construction, commissioning and startup.

The position includes the design of electrical power distribution systems with the following specific responsibilities:

  • Design and analysis of power systems including facility substations, transformers, generators, switchgear, power metering, and protection and controls.
  • Design of power distribution and control systems within industrial facilities including unit substations, switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, soft starts, motors, PLCs etc.
  • Manage and lead electrical aspects of projects.
  • Preparation of reports, studies, specifications, and electrical design documents.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • An Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited University.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
  • 7+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in the design of industrial power distribution and control systems.
  • Experience with the application of the Canadian Electrical Code in engineering design. Knowledge of NEC is considered an asset.
  • Experience using SKM, ETAP or other power system software to perform power system analysis would be considered an asset.
  • Experience creating tender document packages, inlcuding detailed drawings and specifications would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong attention to detail. Team work and client relations are essential to the position.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and team members.
  • Experience in project management and preparing proposals would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
