Responsibilities:

Stantec is seeking an HSE Manager to evaluate, develop, implement, and maintain HSE requirements on multiple EPCM projects.

You will provide a full range of health and safety duties including but not limited to:

  • Identifying qualified candidates for project-specific HSE personnel
  • Evaluate HSE programs and standards of subcontractors
  • Implement HSE initiatives consistent with the Stantec HSE Program at all project sites
  • Maintain inventory of HSE supplies at all project sites.
  • Develop and implement Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) at all project sites.
  • Work cooperatively with Stantec Corporate HSE to maintain synergy between project sites and corporate initiatives
  • Liaison with the client HSE Rep. to ensure all client concerns are being addressed
  • Audit site activities
  • Facilitate and lead all incident investigations
  • Provide regular status reports to the Project Construction Manager and Project Manager
  • Attend client meetings, as required, to provide reporting and statistical explanations
  • Manage the performance of all project-specific HSE representatives
  • Provide project-specific input on HSE issues
  • Provide planning and budget guidance for the purchase of required HSE equipment and resources
  • Work with corporate HSE to review applicable OH&S regulations, updating all project HASPs and other documentation as required
  • Delivery of site orientation and HSE training to site personnel as required
  • Establish project boundaries. Coordinate maintenance and communication of boundary with site HSE personnel
  • Manage the Prime contractor turn over with the client
Qualifications:

To succeed in this role you will require:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in the health and safety profession, preferably in the consulting engineering field, with some management experience.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • A CRSP professional designation (candidates in the process of obtaining a CRSP designation will be considered).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities and a willingness to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Computer skills required include use of Microsoft Office and Access.
  • Travel will be required.
