Job Description: 

The Associate Director, Community is a unique opportunity for a strong and visionary leader to grow a movement of people who want to put their careers to work for good in the world. This individual will join the leadership team of an entrepreneurial and ambitious organization at a critical and exciting inflection point in our history. We are looking for a strategic thinker with exceptional team management, community engagement, program development and implementation skills.  This is a person who can both think big and build movements while also getting their hands dirty with processes, systems and data.

For nearly 20 years, Net Impact has fostered a community of individuals passionate about using the power of business to change the world. Our growing network of over 20,000 members and 280 local chapters around the world inspires and supports people to pursue opportunities to create social and environmental impact. This new senior level position will develop and execute our community strategy, lead a team to grow and support local chapters, and direct efforts that deepen member engagement. A critical element will be to align and coordinate the chapter and online member engagement models.  The Associate Director, Community will report to the Deputy Director, manage a team of 4-5 FTEs, and collaborate closely with other program and team leads.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Individual Member Engagement

  • Develop strategy for member engagement with Net Impact through both online and in-person local chapter experience
  • Deepen engagement throughout the member lifecycle, from college or graduate school through mid-professional career stage; develop and measure member engagement pathways
  • Revise or refine membership model to include broader participation in the near term and monetization to generate significant revenue over the medium term

Chapter Engagement

  • Build Net Impact’s grassroots chapter network from 280 chapters to over 500 over the next five years
  • Support local chapter leaders to strengthen chapters by providing communications, resources, best practices, and tools for chapter growth, activity and quality
  • Foster a vibrant chapter leader community for learning, support and development of the local leaders
  • Determine how to optimally align chapter activities, missions and priorities with central organizational strategic priorities and brand

Partnerships

  • Build and maintain campus, professional and other external partnerships that deepen the experience and value proposition for chapters and members

Internal Leadership

  • Lead a high functioning team of 4-5 FTEs
  • Contribute as integral part of senior leadership team, collaborate deeply across organization
  • Design, streamline and maintain effective processes and systems for individual and chapter engagement and management

Required Qualifications:

The right candidate will be a strong strategic thinker, motivated “doer”, and experienced team leader. More specifically, we seek a professional with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years relevant work experience, 3+ years in a management position
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred
  • Proven ability to build and organize engaged community on a large scale
  • Highly collaborative style and passionate about engaging and developing future leaders
  • Experience leading a collaborative team and managing multiple direct reports
  • Sharp strategic thinker with proven strategy and program development experience
  • Skilled at managing a wide range of projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including writing skills
  • Interest and ability to learn CRM systems; experience with Salesforce CRM a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively in an entrepreneurial culture
  • Enthusiastic commitment to Net Impact’s mission; experience with a Net Impact chapter a plus
