Responsibilities:

Stantec's Oil & Gas group is currently seeking a Piping Designer with SAGD experience in our Calgary Office.

The successful candidate is required to perform and be accountable for all drafting duties (outlined below) on assigned project work. You will focus on the development and preparation of project drawings, 3D models and discipline-to-discipline interface/coordination.

The successful candidate must be able to work within a team environment working under the supervision of project lead and senior designers to prepare project drawings and CWP’s as directed and required. Work will consist of brown field retrofit projects in SAGD facilities.

Our Project Team offers services for all phases of the Project Life Cycle, from pre-project planning through detailed design, construction and commissioning, operations, to decommissioning.

Qualifications:

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Must have 5+ years experience working with operating facilities, owner organizations, fabrication shops, and/or EPCM firms
  • Prefer experience within SAGD facilities.
  • Experience with green field projects as well as facility retrofit projects.
  • Working on projects in a dynamic work environment.
  • Responsible for developing and preparing project deliverables as part of the project/design team.
  • Working with supporting disciplines to coordinate work.
  • Ongoing and proactive communication with Discipline Supervisor/Project Lead regarding development and design of project deliverables.
  • Prepare supporting drawings as part of a construction work package.
  • Work to conform to client specifications, codes and standards.
  • Participate in discipline QA/QC process
  • Proactively work with document control.
  • Support company HSE initiatives.
  • Provide technical piping design work to develop project drawings to meet project deliverables.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively: written, spoken, and interpersonal
  • Ability to organize and plan: computer literacy, time management, project planning and project deliverables
  • Strong Skills in drafting and design fundamentals
  • Understanding of engineering design principles and design codes
  • Ability to multitask, in both capacities of handling multiple jobs/projects, and be able to carry out multiple tasks and scalability within each project
  • Must be familiar with the following design software:
    • AutoCAD
    • ProCAD
    • CadWorx Pro and/or AutoPLANT
    • IsoGen
    • Naviswork
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software.
    • Must be familiar with the development of PFD’s, P&ID’s, Plot Plans, General Arrangements and Isometrics.
    • Must be a self starter and motivated
    • Must be growth orientated (both personal, and company growth focused)
    • Should approach things in a positive manner and be a team player
    • Should be willing to travel from time to time
    • Should be available for full time (40 hrs/wk minimum) however be able to commit to additional whenever required to meet schedule.
    • Should have developed skills that are ready for use at some level immediately
