Job Description: 

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) works to turn environmental values into national priorities. To secure the environmental future of our planet, LCV’s mission is to advocate for sound environmental policies, to elect pro-environment candidates who will adopt and implement such policies and to provide the state LCVs with the resources and tools to accomplish and sustain their mission. LCV is seeking a proven online organizer to drive the organization’s online advocacy program, with a focus on engaging and building LCV’s e-activist network. This is an excellent opportunity for an aggressive and creative online campaigner to promote environmental policies and candidates.

 

Work with LCV’s Digital Strategies Team to develop, recommend and execute a strategy for LCV’s public education, legislative accountability and political online organizing work.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Write compelling email copy, online petitions and other web-based copy.
  • Identify creative campaign opportunities to engage and mobilize LCV’s e-activist list.
  • Analyze and monitor the performance of all online advocacy and websites.
  • Coordinate closely with LCV field staff on online-to-offline integration.
  • Engage with state LCVs, partner organizations and allies on joint campaign activities.
  • Additional responsibilities include updating and maintaining the LCV website, assisting with the management of online ad campaigns and other communications-related duties as assigned.

 

  • Education: College degree required. 
  • Work experience: 3-5 years experience in online organizing, email advocacy or new media.
  • Skills: Strong organizing skills; excellent writing and editing skills; demonstrated skills in producing online campaign materials; creative and aggressive in pursuing organizing opportunities; commitment to metrics and tracking progress; familiarity with CRM, CMS and e-advocacy tools (Convio experience a plus); basic understanding of HTML and coding; works well in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task without sacrificing quality of work; understanding of environmental issues and their potential to engage the public.
  • Conditions: Ability to work overtime with little notice; able to work hours exceeding stated office hours to get the job done; ability and willingness to travel. This position is based in Washington, D.C.
