Job Description: 

The Database Specialist is the primary manager of Convio, our online fundraising and constituent management software and database.  This position provides critical technical support and data analysis to the Digital Communications and Digital Direct Marketing teams for their online fundraising, advocacy and communications efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Administration
 

  • Ensure the successful daily performance of the automated datasync between our online database (Convio) and our offline database-of-record (Team Approach).
  • Monitor the performance of both the datasync and Convio in general; work with vendors and consultants to implement improvements.
  • Establish and maintain internal business rules and processes to ensure data hygiene; identify data hygiene issues; develop and implement processes for resolving specific data hygiene problems.
  • Establish and maintain internal business rules and processes for importing acquisition lists and data enhancement files from vendors into Convio; perform imports of lists and other data files into Convio.

Project Management

  • Serve as project lead for relationship with Convio, including but not limited to the use of professional service contract hours to address technical support issues.
  • Serve as project lead for implementation of added functionality in Convio, including but not limited to personal fundraising, event management and e-commerce modules.
  • Performance Reports/Analytics.
  • Develop, implement and maintain database queries, exports, metrics, and other custom analytical reports related to online fundraising, list growth, and advocacy activity.
  • Establish standard weekly and monthly reporting schedule.
  • Prepare reports for senior management and Governing Council as requested.

Convio User Support
 

  • Provide training and Tier 1 support (e.g “How do I…”) to in-house users of Convio.
  • Establish and document all Convio processes.

QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • 3+ years experience supporting both online and offline fundraising database systems; demonstrated proficiency using Convio highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational databases, including the ability to write queries, generate reports, and address data quality/integrity issues.
  • Proven experience and expertise writing HTML and CSS and working with APIs.
  • Basic online design skills very helpful.
  • Experienced and confident user of Microsoft Office Suite; strong Access skills; familiarity with SharePoint a big plus.
  • Superior organization and project management skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Able to handle shifting priorities, coordinate multiple projects, and assist multiple staff members simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision in a team-oriented environment; able to interact with people at all levels within an organization.
  • Trustworthy and professional; able to maintain donor confidentiality
