Stantec’s Caltech Senex Oil & Gas Group specializes in developing, maintaining and managing assets in the energy sector. We currently have an opportunity for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer in our Calgary SE (59 Ave SE) office.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Completion, review and execution of projects from preliminary electrical design through to detailed electrical design requirements
  • Fugitive emissions and area classification studies and development
  • Development and checking of various industry related drawings (single line, loop drawings, area classification, etc.)
  • Short and long term equipment maintenance strategies
  • Developing electrical operational maintenance procedures
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • P. Eng. status with APEGGA or eligible be for membership
  • Knowledge of CSA, IEEE and IEC standards
  • 5+ years past experience working with operating facilities and for owner organizations with at least one of the following:
    • Electrical engineering design within natural gas processing facilities
    • Electrical engineering design within conventional oil processing facilities
    • Field level maintenance and operational support within NG or OG facilities
  • Other areas of experience that are desirable:
    • Start up and commissioning experience (oil and/or gas)
    • Operational support in oil and gas industry
    • Electrical design including code for medium voltage switch gear, low voltage MCC’s application of VFD’s, motor sizing etc
    • Understanding of basic hydrocarbon processing and how to apply electrical design and equipment requirements for service
    • Good technical writing skills and ability to develop front end to detailed scoping plans
  • Must be computer literate and have good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

This position is ideal for candidates who are motivated self starters. The position is Calgary based however there will be a limited number of day trips monthly.
