Fresh Energy is seeking an exceptional individual for an administrative role in this dynamic nonprofit. We’re the region’s only policy advocacy organization focused solely on energy. The laws and regulations we champion are vital steps toward an energy system that supports thriving economies, vibrant communities, a healthy planet, and energy independence.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
This position manages the accounting and benefits of Fresh Energy including the following tasks:
- maintenance of financial processes, controls, contracts, and financial reporting consistent with generally accepted accounting practices
- administration of employee benefits including payroll, health/dental, and retirement
- financial analysis and reporting to inform executive decision making
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- a bachelor’s degree (at a minimum) in a related area plus a minimum of five years of management-level experience in nonprofit accounting, including benefits administration
- experience with final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting, audit coordination, and preparation of annual budget, including cost allocations
- the ability to design and build financial analysis models and reports for management and board of directors
- a successful track record in managing restricted funds and maintaining a robust contract management system and procedures
- a proven ability to ensure accurate and timely monthly financial information and monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- up-to-date knowledge of audit procedures, accounting systems, and other financial management issues pertaining to nonprofits (familiarity with FASB rules preferred)
- a natural inclination and demonstrated ability to recognize and implement system improvements
- the ability to translate financial concepts to—and effectively collaborate with—programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
- excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Fresh Energy
Salary range: $45,000 – $65,000
