Job Description: 
Clean Wisconsin, the state's largest environmental advocacy organization, is seeking a volunteer science intern for fall 2011.
As a member of the organization's Science team, the science intern will work under the Staff Scientist and provide support and assistance for Clean Wisconsin’s clean air, clean water, and clean energy campaigns. The specific areas of work for fall 2011 are to be determined, based on interest, expertise, and necessity.
 
Responsibilities may include:
  • analyzing permits, applications, and other technical documents
  • gathering data needed to support campaign program positions
  • responding to information inquiries by staff, members, and others
  • performing independent secondary research and analysis relevant to campaigns
  • synthesizing and publishing information related to campaigns on internal Wiki
  • composing reports and factsheets on campaign issues
 
Other duties assigned as needed.
 
   Requirements
The Science Volunteer Intern is expected to possess the following:
  • Demonstrated analytic and technical abilities,
  • Strong written and oral communication skills,
  • Strong motivation and attention to detail,
  • Background knowledge in environmental and energy science (desired, but not necessary),
  • Passion for the environment,
  • Desire to learn more about the science behind environmental issues facing Wisconsin,
  • Ability to commit 15 or more hours a week.
   Additional information
  • Our office is on W. Main Street, just 2 blocks east of the Kohl Center.
  • This internship is a volunteer position, and does not offer a stipend.
  • The ideal candidate is available for the academic year, though semester-only candidates will be considered.
