Edmonton is Head Office for Stantec and is home to an energetic, well established group of over 1,300 multidisciplinary professionals. Our Urban Development group in Edmonton consists of 150 people involved in land development planning, landscape architecture, engineering and water resources disciplines. 

Responsibilities:

An immediate opportunity exists for a Senior Engineering Project Manager in our Urban Development Engineering team serving the Edmonton Area.  As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the management and coordination of residential, commercial and institutional development projects varying in status from concept through to construction, as well as pursuing business development activities.  You will be the prime contact on your projects with the client, approval agencies and others and you will use your technical and leadership abilities to lead a project team of designers and others. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing work programs, proposals and fee estimates for projects
  • Guiding projects through to completion, whether due diligence/feasibility work, preliminary/conceptual design, detailed design, scheduling, tendering and construction
  • Directing staff and providing leadership, guidance and assisting with their career development
  • Liaising with clients, agencies and others to obtain approvals
  • Ensuring that the clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Managing and enhancing relationships with our clients
  • Managing the financial aspects of your projects, including invoicing of work to our clients 
  • Undertaking business development and promotional activities in the pursuit of new projects and clients, and the cross-selling of other practice areas
Qualifications:

As the successful candidate:

  • You possess a thorough understanding of civil engineering design, and have obtained at least 12+ years’ experience in land development or related engineering
  • You are registered as a P. Eng. or are a CET and eligible for a Limited License in the field of land development in the Province of Alberta
  • You have extensive knowledge with residential and commercial subdivisions, site plans, and master servicing plans
  • Your business development, strong leadership, time management, communication and team building skills are essential for you to meet the expectations of this challenging position
  • Ideally, you are a self-motivated individual possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and are able to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Your ability to work independently and demonstrated ability to manage projects and clients is essential
