Environment America, a federation of state-based environmental groups, is a powerful advocate for the environment and our health. We speak out at the local, state, and national levels to improve the quality of our environment and our lives. We've built a grassroots network across the country that has helped win initiatives on a wide range of environmental issues. Job Description In any fast-paced, dynamic nonprofit, a stable and efficient work environment is critical for success. The Administrative Assistant works with Environment America’s Administrative Director and other members of the administrative team to provide support to Environment America’s federal advocacy staff in Washington, DC. Specific responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant include: · Communications: Answer phones; answer inquiries from Environment America members and the general public;coordinate internal and external communications such as campaign materials, newsletters, memos, and press releases. · DC Office Operations: Provide support by ensuring the DC staff have the resources they need to complete their goals; coordinate the printing, distribution, design of reports, fact sheets and other materials; coordinate projects & schedules; create and maintain systems for tracking goals for the DC office; maintain files and records. · Event Logistics: Environment America hosts a range of events during the year including staff retreats, campaign activities, trainings, and Board meetings. The Administrative Assistant is at the forefront of organizing these events and providing logistical support as necessary during the events. · Internship Program: Interview college intern candidates, help coordinate interns working in the office, and help organize intern projects and events. Qualifications We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to the environment and public interest; the ambition and ability to take broad responsibility for the DC office; an attention to detail and willingness to solve problems; strong written and verbal skills; and, experience using Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer programs. Salary and Benefits Salary ranges from $23,750 to $30,000 depending on experience. The benefits package includes educational loan assistance for qualified staff, a retirement plan, paid vacation and sick days, family leave, and a dependent care assistance program. Health care is provided for experienced applicants; entry-level staff may elect to join our health care plan through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
