About this Opportunity: We are offering an opportunity to combine a passion for the great outdoors with one's exceptional database management expertise to help preserve Yosemite National Park for future generations. Our database management staff and development team are located in our San Francisco office; therefore, we seek an experienced Data Services Manager to join our Financial District office location at an exciting time of expansion. Our clean and well maintained database aids in housing donor and member information allowing us to effectively communicate important information, send event invitations, track engagement and contributions. The Data Services Manager (DSM) is responsible for high level maintenance, data entry and user management, optimizing data with our The Raiser's Edge database. If you were chosen, you would participate in and oversee all constituent and gift data entry as well as manage the retrieval process of information from the database including creation of advanced reports, queries /data-pull reports, exports, etc. The DSM is responsible for providing effective The Raiser's Edge guidance and support to staff and consultants. The DSM also handles the processing of all credit and debit cards and on-line gifts and coordinates with the accounting department to ensure that gifts are properly coded and communicated. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Database Management: • Manages, maintains and upgrades the organization's database, The Raiser's Edge. • Coordinates and supports data entry and data output efforts in two offices: San Francisco and El Portal, CA. Travels to El Portal as needed. • Coordinates with IT consultant to ensure backups and other technical maintenance occur. • Maintains security protocols. • Manages the processing of all credit / debit cards, bank deposits, in-park and on-line gifts. • Creates and offers trainings for new and existing users for consistent, proper data entry, intermediate functions and upgrades. Target and Strategic Analytics, Queries and Reports: • Creates and run highly complex queries, exports and reports in support of the annual giving program and other fundraising efforts in cooperation with the Annual and Planned Giving Manager and others as needed. • Creates a project grant database using Microsoft Access. • Collaborates with various staff members in direct mail efforts, donor events and cultivation. • Assists with data research and analysis projects. • Coordinates the chart of accounts with the accounting department to ensure that gift data is properly coded and communicated to the accounting software. Data Services Manager Management / Leadership: • Manages Donor and Data Services Assistant and Data Entry Assistant including involvement in hiring and training. • Oversees and coordinates data entry and gift processing with the Donor and Data Services Assistant and the Data Entry Assistant, and monitors work to ensure quality control and timeliness of entry. • Organizes and oversees job-related tasks to be completed by volunteers or temporary workers. • Provides continuing education / updates to key members of the Development Department. REQUIREMENTS: • High computer and database literacy. • Advanced skills in The Raiser's Edge software. • Familiarity and experience with direct mail, monthly and workplace giving and other grass roots fundraising techniques. • Strong communication skills including writing ability. • Possesses pleasant, positive demeanor in working with others and in interacting with donors. • Ability to convey technical information effectively • Experience with individual and small groups training. • Ability to work well under pressure, with a wide variety of people including volunteers • Well-organized, attentive to detail, and a good sense of humor and timeliness. • Management experience, preferred. • Knowledge of Yosemite National Park, interest in outdoor activities and commitment to conservation preferred. • Able to drive to Yosemite National Park 3-4 times a year.
