Responsibilities:

An opportunity exists in our Ottawa office for a highly motivated Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Engineer or Technician/Technologist, to become part of a dynamic group providing professional services to our clients in the buildings sector. As the successful candidate you will assume the position of Mechanical CAD Designer and be responsible for the design and CAD drafting of projects. Consideration will be given to candidates who have a strong CAD background.

Reporting to the Team Leader, with regards to the technical team’s workflow, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Producing aspects of mechanical design and drawings in AutoCAD;
  • Organizing and maintaining a design and CAD digital file database for each project;
  • Successfully carrying out assignments on project design teams;
  • Undertaking the detailed design and working drawings of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection;
  • Undertaking LEED compliance templates for applicable projects;
  • Facilitating and ensuring the quality of design, drawings and graphic work produced for the team; and
  • Ensuring that the projects’ needs are met in terms of project work plan schedules and budgets.

Training will be provided to advance your skills in areas of detailed design.

Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you have a minimum of 2 to 5 years experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment. A comprehensive knowledge of AutoCAD is essential. REVIT experience will be considered an asset. Knowledge in construction management, construction contracts, specification writing and report presentation, estimating, building regulations and construction surveying is preferred.
