Conservation Begins Here. The Student Conservation Association (SCA), a national force of conservation volunteers, has an exciting opportunity in our Admissions Department. We are seeking a dynamic recruiting representative who will play an integral role in developing and managing SCA’s intern applicant pool. This position will be responsible for managing the Campus Recruiting process for a portfolio of schools in California and the southwestern region of the United States, with a special emphasis on diversity recruiting, and assisting applicants through the admissions process. The successful candidate will be an outgoing, mature self-starter who is comfortable working independently and speaking to large and small groups while promoting the life-changing experiences SCA has to offer. This individual will travel about 15 weeks per year, between September 1st and March 15th, to target schools for 2-4 weeks at a time. The position is based in the SCA’s Oakland, Calif., Regional Office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Campus Recruiting Manager, develop and implement a recruitment strategy to achieve regional recruiting goals
- Deliver timely and high-quality customer service, with a specific focus on building relationships with school contacts and phone and email communications to applicants.
- Create and execute a sustainable plan for building relationships and increasing applicants at highly diverse schools in the region.
- Travel at least 15 weeks of the year, 2-4 weeks at a time, to college campuses throughout western region, primarily during the academic year.
- Manage all logistics for recruiting trips to include; planning trips, performing web research, emailing and calling contacts to secure meetings, booking plane tickets, reserving rental cars, making hotel reservations, conducting presentations and meetings and tracking budget expenses.
- Act as an Admissions liaison to every applicant from the region to help them through the SCA application/placement process.
- Devise and implement a strategy for utilizing SCA Alumni from regional schools.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years professional experience required; marketing, admissions or recruiting experience preferred
- Former Participant in SCA Program required
- Excellent customer service and fearless telephone communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to speak confidently in public to audiences of various sizes
- Valid driver’s license, minimum age of 25 and MVR that meets SCA standards
- Experience in using MS Office software and Data entry skills required
- Strong attention to detail
- Very strong time management skills and the ability and desire to perform multiple and variable tasks
- Willingness to travel between 15 – 20 weeks per year.
- Must meet SCA’s criminal background check standards
- Evidence of multicultural experience and competency a plus.
