Stantec's Environmental Services group is dedicated to helping our clients reduce their environmental liabilities by developing comprehensive remediation programs. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. This is where great ideas and rewarding careers are built. Our team members work on a variety of projects, including environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services. Responsibilities:

Stantec is seeking a Senior Wildlife Biologist to join our Biological Sciences team with a focus toward the following responsibilities:

  • Act as the senior technical (biological) lead on complex projects
  • Project Manager or Technical Director on a variety of projects that focus on biological issues.
  • Consulting with clients on overall permitting and environmental compliance strategies.
  • Train, mentor, and manage junior staff.

Because projects are located throughout California and the western U.S., the individual can be located in any eastern U.S. Stantec office and 50% travel may be required.

 

Experience with Renewable Energy industry, oil & gas and pipeline industries a plus.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree required in a related discipline from a recognized university; A Masters of Science degree in a related discipline would be preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience which must include some consulting with oil and gas and pipeline related projects.
  • Candidates should have a solid background in wildlife, taxonomy, and/or botany, and proficient with survey protocols and field project logistics.
  • A willingness to conduct field biological surveys periodically and to work long hours in the field.
  • Flexibility in work assignments - location and type of assignments will vary.
  • Ability to organize and direct teams conducting field biological surveys throughout the eastern U.S.
  • Experience in developing and marketing clients.
  • Experience developing and acquiring permits with USFWS, CDFG, ACOE, RWQCB and others, including the development of HCPs.
