American Bird Conservancy Lead Campaign Manager
Position Summary:
Title: Lead Campaign Manager Supervisor: Vice President of Conservation Advocacy Location: Washington, DC Application Deadline: September 16, 2011
Introduction:
American Bird Conservancy (ABC), an international bird conservation organization, is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial leader to manage the ABC “Get the Lead Out” Campaign in its office in Washington, DC. The Campaign Manager will devise and implement ABC’s new campaign to promote the use of non-toxic, lead-free hunting ammunition and fishing weights. ABC’s goal is to remove lead from the environment in order to protect people, wildlife, and especially birds.
The Campaign Manager will 1) work with state and federal agencies, game groups, hunt clubs, and other organizations to encourage that hunting or fishing is done with non-toxic ammunition and fishing gear; 2) help launch a communications campaign to raise awareness of this issue; 3) identify, encourage, and use new and better science to support the campaign’s goals; 4) assist in engaging large retailers and work with them to carry more non-toxic options on their shelves; 5) build and expand alliances, especially within the hunting and human health advocacy communities, regarding food safety and contaminated game. This work will include reaching out to Capitol Hill, federal agencies, state governments and NGO partners. This position is supervised by the Vice President of Conservation Advocacy.
