Energy Business Development Associate
Background Ecology Action is an environmental public benefit corporation (non-profit) serving California communities by partnering with local and regional governments, regulatory agencies, and utilities to provide services such as pollution prevention, transportation alternatives, recycling and waste minimization, and energy efficiency.
Position Summary
The position works in a fast-paced and dynamic market space and within a team under the direction and support of a senior business development staff member. The position conducts focused inquiry into technologies, markets, competitors and potential business partners in order to help the team validate, debunk or evolve Ecology Action’s strategic objectives.

| Duties: |
The Associate identifies opportunities to help us better deliver our mission, improve our external image and generate new revenue. The Associate quickly draws conclusions about the viability of specific business development ideas in order to minimize stranding investment on opportunities that will ultimately have inadequate value.
Specific Responsibilities
Duties include: • Researches and identifies funding sources and funding opportunities. • Quickly validates appropriateness of funding opportunities for EA program/service offerings • Consolidates information into concise and relevant briefings • Generates ideas for future EA work products or services. • Participates in weekly meetings, provides briefing to colleagues • Assembles funding proposals including writing proposal content, budget research, • Quickly eliminates opportunities that are not aligned with mission or that do not offer adequate potential to meet Ecology Action’s mission and strategic objectives • Ability to synthesize information quickly • Handles daily delegation and objective/project based tasks • Willingness and ability to rapidly shift work focus based on research findings and/or based on direction from manager.

| Qualifications: |
Required skills • Excellent verbal and written communications skills • Group presentation/public speaking skills • 2 – 3 years business development experience • Comfortable functioning independently • MUST HAVE: Experience with conservation, energy efficiency, water efficiency or similar program outreach, education and/or technical assistance provision • General familiarity with regional and state environmental policy • Proficiency with MS Office products
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear, and use a computer keyboard and monitor.

Compensation Total compensation includes a base rate of pay plus a maximum 10% quarterly incentive program that is tied to performance. Excellent benefits program. This is a full-time position subject to continued funding of this program, estimated through December 2012.
